Glen Kiln

Glen Kiln 11 April 2023. Have done  this walk several timesand still enjoy it you can do the short route or you can extend it at the halfway point. I took the short route this time a distance of 8.5 km.

The weather was overcast and was forecasting, rain later on in the day. At the start point at the rumbling bridge the Little Echaig River was in spate and looking over into the deep pools the fisherman bit came out of me and I wondered how many sea trout and possibly a salmon where laying deep in the pools.

The first part of the walk is a slight incline just enough to get warmed up. Then from there the track is quite easy. When you come to what I call the halfway point you come to a sign that says the Coffin Trail the path heads up the side of the hill to bealach and drops down to Loch Striven. This is the path they would bring the coffins to get buried at Kilmun Church on the Holy Loch.

Once you leave this point its downhill until you come to the track junction you can take the short route by turning left or go straight ahead. Point to note if you go left you will have two burns to cross which normally are not a problem, however after prolonged period of heavy rain can be a bit tricky. From there its just follow the track all the way back to the car park.
